28748 Sound View Drive S, Des Moines, 98198

One block up from the Redondo boardwalk, on a street where the water shows itself between the rooftops. This two-bedroom, one-and-a-half-bath cottage sits high enough on Sound View to catch Puget Sound and Maury Island beyond, and the deep covered porch is where the day starts — French doors swing wide off the living room so the front of the house becomes one open space when the weather turns fine.Inside, warm hardwood floors run through a light-filled living room anchored by a gas fireplace insert in painted brick. The kitchen holds solid wood cabinetry, gas range, skylight and beamed ceiling, with a bay-window nook sized for the breakfast table. The primary bedroom is unusually generous for a home this size, opening to the main living space and the porch beyond. Add a refreshed three-quarter bath, a half bath, a full lower level, and more storage than the square footage suggests.Outside: a level yard framed by mature evergreens, a detached potting shed and chicken coop for the gardener, and a wide concrete drive with off-street parking for several cars — room for the boat trailer, the kayaks and the guests.Offered in as-is condition — honest bones and a few projects left for the next owner, on a block that can't be built again. Walk to the Redondo Pier, Wooten Park, Salty's and the MaST Center Aquarium. Kayak before breakfast, boat from Des Moines Marina, fish off the pier at dusk. Highline schools; ten minutes to Sea-Tac, twenty-five to Seattle.
