According to the Washington Realtor Association, 85% of local home buyers looked to a Seattle realtor to help them find their dream property. According to Seattle realtor estimates, 13% of Seattle's housing units (37,320) are located in the downtown core. Of the 54,773 people who call downtown Seattle their home, there are 100 more kids compared to last year. Renters make up 84% of the residents, with 16% owning their unit. A quarter of the downtown housing is government-subsidized.

Over $1.1 billion in development projects were finished in 2007, up 44% from the previous year, with another $3 billion under construction.
